The R and R Rail Line – Duck Lake

Recently I took a walk behind Duck Lake with Pat Haist and his sons, Riley M. Haist & Ryan J. Haist all from Summerland, BC. We went looking for a rail line I was told was there, and went to see if it was infact a rail line that trains travelled. First we went along a known line and Ryan spotted a rail track first, and not long after that found a cable reel. We walked this line for 1.5 hours before arriving at Mud Lake then stopped for lunch. After lunch we cut through the bush along a fairly new trail towards the Roost at Duck Lake. Soon we stepped onto an area that looked like a old rail line, out came the metal detector and it did not take lone for Riley and Ryan to find rail spikes
We all knew that this didnt mean it was a train track, sometimes they used spikes for other things, we all knew we had to find the elusive rail joiner. After looking for 3 hours, Ryan found a few spikes, Riley found some cable and some spikes then we hit paydirt, the metal detector went off telling us there was some serious metal, Riley and Ryan both went digging and up came a rail joiner. So now we were pretty sure this was a rail line, because I didnt know this line I named it the R and R Rail Line after Riley and Ryan.
We didnt get to travel the whole length due to time, soon enough we will all go back and see what other treasures we can find.
