The R and R Rail Line – Duck Lake

Recently I went looking for a rail line behind Duck Lake that isnt on any maps I have but was told is there. I went with Pat Haist and his two sons, Riley M. Haist & Ryan J. Haist all from Summerland, BC. We first travelled along a line and came across a rail track, both Riley and Ryan spotted it before I did, then Ryan spotted an old Cable Wheel right after that. We walked towards Mud Lake and then had something to eat, a 1.5 hour walk by this time. Cutting back through the bush towards the Duck Lake Roost along a fairly new trail we stepped upon what appeared to be an old rail line. The metal detector came out and both Riley and Ryan took turns searching the ground and it did not take long for either of them to find rail spikes. Although rail spikes dont tell us it was a rail line alone, I told them both that to get an accurate say if it was a rail line we need to find a rail joiner and after about 2 hours, Riley hears the detector sound off it found metal, Riley and Ryan both took turns shovelling and came up with a rail joiner. We had many other spike finds, letting us know it was a rail line, I named this line the R and R Rail line after Riley and Ryan Haist.
