HorseShoe Lake – River

Well I recently went on a hike through the bush surrounding a small area of Horseshoe Lake in search of this crashed airplane, and although I did not find the airplane I did however enjoy being at Horseshoe Lake again. I also came across some surprises there and one being a large piece of poured concrete which although I am sure has something to do with the dam, I personally can not figure out what its purposed would be placed where it is.
This piece of concrete is about 7 feet wide, two poured holes in front in which logs extended from, now long since rotton, the height from the ground is about 4 feet, and its length is near 12 to 14 feet in length. If anyone reading this can tell me why such a piece of concrete would be poured for a rock dam, Im interested in knowing.

As I ventured between Horseshoe Lake, its River towards Lois Lake, I wandered in a criss-cross pattern through the forrest on the north-east side for an area of about 1.5 k by 1.5 km and although no sign of the airlplane I did come across an old fire-guard. This fire guard is in amazing shape for its age and its length is about 400 feet, stands 12 feet above the ground, I posted some of it on the video. Next time, maybe I will find the airplane, wish me luck.
