I was told there was maybe an old train sitting in the lake, I use google earth to research my area before I go there, when I was looking on google earth I noticed something near the shore, it did not look like it belonged, so in a boat I went. Upon arriving at Nanton Lake BC I put my canoe in the lake and paddled over, what I saw amazed me, I have never seen anything like this, but it was late and I had to leave, this was a quick visit. Returning another day more in the morning, I returned, this time armed with a camera, and a underwater camera, so time for swim.
The photos showed me something even to this day is a puzzle, I am sure its a log loader/unloader, I can see the pulley, the gears, and the broken mast, but what is the puzzle is the 2 sets of sidebyside wheels. This would mean a double track, there was no indications of a double track, and double tracks are extremely difficult to build, also the shear size of this ancient piece of machinery was amazing, and so far, no one has been able to truly identify what this really was used for.
